To create cutting-edge wide-field fluorescence lifetime imaging devices that will provide previously unheard-of insights into biological processes, we are seeking a motivated Ph.D. applicant.
The successful Ph.D. applicant will play a pivotal role in the university's effort in creating cutting-edge microscopes and analytical instruments. The research focuses on fluorescent lifetime imaging microscopy (FLIM), a state-of-the-art method that combines temporal dynamics at the nanosecond scale with traditional fluorescence intensity measurements.
The aim is to achieve a high-temporal-resolution wide-field FLIM system by combining a unique optical light-sheet design with massive, pixelated detectors that can resolve time. This role provides a unique opportunity to work at the nexus of machine learning methodologies, spectroscopic techniques, and photonics technologies, directly collaborating with biologists to enhance these tools for novel biological discoveries.
