The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAECI) is delighted to inform you that the application process for the Italian Government (MAECI) Scholarship 2025/26 is now open. This scholarship is accessible to international students and Italian citizens residing abroad who are interested in pursuing Master’s and PhD degrees at Italian public or officially recognized universities. Applicants from 141 countries are eligible. The scholarship's goal is to offer financial assistance to students who are unable to afford education in Italy. The MAECI Scholarship is available for four study categories: Master’s Degrees, Higher Education Courses in Arts, Music, and Dance (AFAM), PhD programs, and Research projects under academic guidance. How does this MAECI Scholarship work?

If you wish to enroll in an Italian university but lack the financial means:

  • Most Italian public universities participate in the MAECI Scholarship Program.

Financial Coverage

The MAECI Scholarship includes:

  • Waiver of enrollment and tuition fees.
  • Health and Medical/Accident insurance.
  • A total of 9000 euros will be awarded to students, divided into 3 installments.
  • The first installment is 4500 euros.
  • The second installment is 2500 euros.
  • The third and final installment is 2000 euros.

Eligibility Criteria

  • The Scholarship is available to citizens of 141 countries.
  • Applicants for a master’s degree program must have completed a bachelor’s degree.
  • Applicants must be 28 years old or younger at the time of application for the Master’s degree program.
  • For those applying for a PhD program, they must not exceed the age of 30 at the time of application.
  • Applicants must demonstrate English language proficiency through IELTS or another language certificate, such as proof of English proficiency.

How to Apply for the Italian Government MAECI Scholarship 2025? 

To apply, candidates should submit their applications online via the “Study in Italy” portal. It is not necessary to first gain admission to a university. The application processes for the MAECI scholarship and university admission are distinct. For the MAECI Scholarship: Applications are submitted through the online system provided by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
